DJ is at my Mom's, recovering.  My sister Cindy is moving in to help, and her ex-husband's nephew's wife is donating her time as an in-home health care person.

Taking suggestions for "Pimp My Walker"

The part of his pelvis that is broken is on the right side, and it is the ischial tuberosity... one of the two loops of bone that hang between the hip joints.  I hurt thinking about it.  He's here, though.  My boy is alive, his head and brain are intact.  I owe that to God, swift EMT's, and perhaps- professional wrestling.

You see, DJ has wanted to be a part of the business since before Tim and I met.  While we were dating, and especially after we began living together, Tim would sit with DJ and point out key moves and tricks in his wrestling videos.  He explained how the guys would land flat, head up, so that the force of impact would be evenly distributed over thier entire back. DJ has practed off and on for YEARS how to flip in midair, and land flat on his mattress.
DJ's best friend was on the sidewalk, and saw the car hit my son.  He said that DJ flew 15 feet up into the air.
The only fall related injuries are three scraped areas- both shoulderblades and mid-back.  By instinct, he landed flat.  Thank GOD he landed flat.

DJ update

DJ will likely be discharged tomorrow.  He did not need surgery; the docs expect the bones to kit together in about 8 weeks.  The hip joint was not involved at all.  There were no other major injuries.  None whatsoever.

Minor injuries include scrapes on his elbows, feet, and back from landing on concrete.  Jeremy, the boy that walks with DJ to the bus stop saw the accident, and watched him fly up about 15 feet before landing on the sidewalk.

The car could have killed him.  The fall could have killed him.  He's alive.

We are blessed.

We're thankful.

While discussing food...

Southpark Mii
DJ: I like trying new things.

Me: I do too.  That's how I found out I like frog legs.

DJ: Trying new things is how I found out I like eating sushi.

Me: I like eating sushi, too.
(turning to Tim, with a gleam in my eye...)
Me: Maybe one day I'll get *you* to eat sushi, too (wink-wink, nudge-nudge)

DJ: It has RICE in it!

Me: 0_o

Tim: LOL!

"Controversial Survey"
[1] Do you have the guts to answer these questions and re-post as The Controversial Survey?
Here it goes....

[02] Would you do meth if it was legal?
No.

[03] Abortion: for or against it?
I believe that abortion is wrong, and only exists because of our failing as a society.  Women choose abortion for economic and social reasons more than health related ones. I believe that with a proper safety net (affordable childcare, affordable health care, parenting and life skills help, lack of social stigma) most abortions would not occur.

[04] Do you think the world would fail with a female US president?
Neither a penis nor a vagina qualifies anyone for political office.

[05] Do you believe in the death penalty?
In a fair justice system only. See "The Innocence Project".

[06] Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?
Legalized, regulated, and taxed out the a$$!.

[07] Are you for or against premarital sex?
I'm for premarital sex.  "The talk" should be given yearly, on an age appropriate level.

[08] Do you believe in God?
Yes

[09] Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?
I agree with etherialviolet here->It should have never been illegal in the first place.

[10] Do you think it's wrong that so many immigrants are moving into the country?
Here too->No, most of them work harder than the average American, so no, not at all.

[11] A twelve year old girl has a baby, should she keep it?
Many twelve year old kids are too impulsive to properly care for an infant.  I do not believe in separating the mother and child based only on her age.  I do, however, believe that an adult guardian should be appointed to mentor her if her own family (or the baby's father's family) is unwilling to do so.

[12] Should the alcohol age be increased to 21?
It is 21.

[13] Should the war in Iraq be called off?
Yes, although I'm not sure how we'd go about it. It should have never gotten started to begin with.

[14] Assisted suicide is illegal: do you agree?
If the person seeking assistance is of clear mind and terminal, it should not be illegal.

[15] Do you believe in spanking your children?
I used to.

[16] Would you burn your countries flag for a million dollars?
other consequences?  if none, then yes.

[17] Who do you think would make a better US president? McCain or Obama?
Obama.

[18] What is the biggest problem with society that needs to be dealt with?
Health care! It should be a right of all citizens!

[19] Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers?
Of course I'll be judged.  Oh well...

that stinks
A few quick updates...
Tim is still on the job hunt.
I'm looking into a nights/weekends PT job- no hits there, either.
BT has 5 teeth, and is -this close- to pulling himself up to a standing position.

I heard about this game a few days ago.
As a large lady, I -should- be upset about it.
As a liberal woman, I -should- be outraged.

My first reaction?

"Wow!  Now I can do COS-PLAY!"

It's been a while since I've posted; B. T. has two teeth and Tim's black eye is almost gone.  Both happened nearly a week ago.  The black eye came from D. J. ; he was upset at being scolded for taking his video game too seriously.  The boy has major issues, and I am clueless on this one.  Restriction is a given.  Mom has been watching him pretty much since it happened. It's given Tim and D. J. a break from each other.

My sister asked a question that made me think-  "How much time do the boys get to see each other?"
We tend to have EITHER one OR the other here... usually not both.  We should change that.

We've rediscovered the joy of cheap at the Dub house. My sandwich and Big K lunch got free upgrades yesterday.  The boss gave me a head of romaine lettuce because she bought too much, and she was lettuced out.  SWEET!  I made two sandwiches, and cut the rest for salad.  Free tart apples were provided by a lady in another department who spent her weekend in Hazard County.
Yeah, it doesn't take much to make me happy.  Just cheap food.

Speaking of which- the company is catering lunch for us today.  I'm STOKED!

Missed it, again.

Southpark Mii
I got all exited when Tim came upstairs this afternoon; I couldn't wait to tell him that B.T. rolled over.
Then he told me that B.T. rolled over at his great-grandma's house... two days ago.

First word AND first rollover.

Tim is unofficially employed as a driver at the pizza pub...
He will be making $2.00 per run, plus tips on the driving bit.  He mentioned that he will be learning to cook as well.  THAT I don't mind.
He'll have more details, I'm sure.

He made $5, before gas.

Back to the drawing board...
